    The good news came first as the Blue Devils knocked off Rockwood 5-2 to earn a berth in next week’s Region 2-A Tournament.

    It was close but no cigar Tuesday evening for the Oliver Springs Bobcats as the Wartburg Bulldogs rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the final two innings to take a 5-4 victory over the Bobcats in the third round of the District 4-A Tournament at Coalfield.

    For the better part of six innings Friday it appeared that the Harriman Lady Blue Devils would knock off Tellico Plains in the opening round of the District 3-A Tournament and keep their season alive.

  • Jackets unable to hold off Alcoa

    For five innings Saturday afternoon, the Kingston Yellow Jackets did little wrong in racing out to a 7-1 lead over Alcoa in the second round of the District 4-AA Tournament against Alcoa. However, little went right for the Jackets in the final two innings as Alcoa scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and two more in the seventh to escape with an 8-7 victory.

    The Midway Green Waves set a school record for wins Friday evening with an 8-6 victory over Greenback.

    Midway’s Thomas Viar and Grace Christian Academy’s Zack Slagle locked horns in a good old-fashioned pitching duel Monday evening as Slagle and the Rams picked up a 2-1 nine-inning victory over Viar and the Green Waves in the second round of the District 3-A Tournament at Harriman.
