  • Midway takes control of District...

    Both the Harriman Lady Blue Devils and the Midway Lady Green Waves were 6-0 in District 3-A when they met for the first time Tuesday.

    Midway won the first meeting this year 3-0 and they faced the Lady Devils again Thursday. A Midway win Thursday will give the Lady Waves the regular season championship outright along with the No. 1 seed for the upcoming District 3-A Tournament.

    A Harriman win Thursday would leave the two teams tied for the top spot.

  • Lady Tigers pick up key wins

    With the regular season winding down, it was imperative for the Rockwood Lady Tigers to take home district wins against the Greenback Lady Cherokees in a recent double-header. The Lady Tigers did exactly that as they mauled the Lady ‘Kees by an 8-0 margin in game one and 16-0 in game two.

  • Coalfield claws Eagles twice

    Coalfield remained alone at the top of District 4-A after taking the two game series against Oakdale last week.

    The Jackets (9-9, 6-0 in District 4-A) overpowered the Eagles by a 34-1 count in the two district baseball games. Coalfield earned an 11-1 win at Oakdale last Monday and then blanked the Eagles 23-0 last Tuesday at home to remain perfect in the district.

    Coalfield ripped 30 hits in the two games and got another pair of pitching gems by the 1-2 pitching punch of Matt Johnston and Cody Key.

  • Hall leads Oliver Springs girls...

    When Oliver Springs pitcher Kim Hall is on, the Lady ‘Cats are virtually unbeatable.

    Kim Hall was on during Oliver Springs’ District 4-A showdown with Coalfield and the result was a 7-1 victory and sole possession of first place in the District 4-A standings for the Lady 'Cats.

    Hall tossed a one-hitter with one walk and an amazing 18 strikeouts past the Lady Jackets.

    Besides the hit and walk, Coalfield had just two more runners reached safely on errors.

  • Rockwood takes 13-8 win over...

    Round two goes to Rockwood.

    Two days after dropping an 8-3 decision to Harriman, Joey Cofer’s Rockwood Tigers rebounded nicely with a 13-8 victory over the Blue Devils.

    Thursday’s rematch played out much the same was as Tuesday’s first match-up.
