  • Harriman rolls past Coalfield

    Heading into the bottom of the fourth inning of Harriman’s game with Coalfield, it appeared the game was heading toward a fantastic finish as the game was tied 2-2. But Harriman’s next two trips to the plate led to 11 straight runs as the Blue Devils rolled to a 13-2 victory.

  • Lady Jackets win three

    The Kingston Lady Yellow Jackets softball team spent their weekend of the season taking on tough competition in a tournament. The latest tournament took place in Kingsport as the Lady Jackets picked up three wins against two losses in the 2013 Eastman Invitational.

  • Grace tops Midway, 2-0

    The Grace Christian Academy Rams are the favorites to win the District 3-A championship in 2013, but the Midway Green Wave traveled to Knoxville last Tuesday and gave the Rams all they could handle before Grace Christian picked up a 2-0 victory.

    Despite failing to score, Midway had their chances, especially in the early innings.

    A fast start led to an early ending Friday evening as the Rockwood Tigers ran their season record to 8-6 overall following an 11-1 victory over Sweetwater at the Mike “Brillo” Miller Sports Complex.

  • Lady ‘Cats find success in...

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats had a busy weekend as Matt Headden’s squad played five games in two days in a tournament at Rockwood.

    The Lady ‘Cats were victorious in four of those games. The first win came Friday against Carter, 3-1, and they won three games on Saturday, 7-0 over Rockwood, 2-1 over Rhea County, and 1-0 over Harriman.

  • Bats come alive for Midway in 16...

    Nick Collins, Logan Davidson, Christian Moore and Hayden Hester all had multiple hits Saturday afternoon in leading the Midway Green Wave to a 16-7 victory at Coalfield.
    Midway scored in six of the seven innings played Saturday with three of those runs coming in the top of the first inning.
    Moore had Midway’s first hit of the day with a double and he scored on a ground out from Zach Edwards. Hester and Collins also had hits and runs scored in the frame with Zach Qualls driving in both runs after reaching on an error.

  • Soccer Tigers kick Carter, 4-1

    The Rockwood Tigers soccer team racked up another impressive notch under their belt with a dominating 4-1 win over the Carter Hornets on Friday evening.
    "We played well and passed the ball well tonight, but I felt we missed some great opportunities early on in the game," Rockwood head coach Wes Ford said after the game. "We had some great goal chances, but we weren't quite able to capitalize. That said, I think we are really starting to gel as a team."
