    So close, yet so far was the best way to sum up the Harriman All-Stars Dixie Youth District 8 A championship game with Sweetwater, as Harriman had an 8-1 lead at one stretch, only to lose a 14-13 heartbreaker Thursday night in Sweetwater.

    In a nip-and-tuck, see-saw battle, the Harriman A All-Stars used a walk-off single by John Jones to cap off a 20-19 come-from-behind win over Kingston Tuesday evening in the Dixie Youth District 8 A Tournament at Sweetwater.

    The Rockwood AA Tigers kept their season alive Tuesday evening with an exciting 11-9 come-from-behind victory over Pigeon Forge in the Dixie Youth District 8 AA Tournament being played at Tellico Plains.

    The Harriman A All-Stars wrapped up a spot in next week’s Dixie Youth State Tournament Wednesday evening with a 14-6 victory over Tellico Plains in the Dixie Youth District 8 A Tournament in Sweetwater.

    After finishing first and second in sub district play, the Harriman and Kingston All-Stars picked up right where they left off Friday evening in the opening round of the Dixie Youth District 8 A Tournament in Sweetwater.

    Despite a late rally, the Harriman A All-Stars dropped a 10-8 heartbreaker to the Sweetwater All-Stars Saturday afternoon. 

    Harriman got on the board first with a RBI single by Nick Pelfrey, but Sweetwater scored four runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 4-1.

    The Rockwood AA All-Stars staved off elimination twice Saturday in the District 8 AA Tournament at Tellico Plains.

  • Coalfield Softball Camp set for...

    The Coalfield Lady Jackets softball team will be hosting a softball camp on Tuesday, July 26 at Coalfield School.
    There will be sessions on base running, hitting, throwing, defensive fundamentals, pitching and catching.
    The camp will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. with lunch taking place from noon until 1 p.m.
    All ages are welcome and each session will be broken down by age and will be age appropriate.
    The cost for the camp is $40 and registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

    After strong performances in the Dixie Youth AA west sub district, the Rockwood All-Stars and Harriman All-Stars ran into trouble in the opening round of the District 8 AA Tournament Friday night at Tellico Plains, as both suffered opening round losses.
