  • Big innings lead Midway past...

    The Midway duo of Zach Edwards and Hayden Hester combined for seven hits, two home runs and 10 RBIs Wednesday  in leading the Green Wave to a 13-8 District 3-A road win at Greenback.

    Although Midway scored 13 runs, they did start slow as they trailed 2-0 after three innings of play.

  • Lady Waves cruise in district...

    The Midway Lady Green Waves opened the 2013 portion of their schedule Tuesday evening with a convincing 17-0 thee-inning victory over Greenback.

  • Oliver Springs drops district...

    Twice, the Oliver Springs Bobcats baseball team had the Sunbright Tigers on the ropes, but on both occasions, however, the Tigers rebounded to sweep the Bobcats in a District 4-A doubleheader by scores of 6-3 and 9-6.

  • Tigers pick up split in tennis...

    The Rockwood Tigers and Lady Tigers tennis teams hosted Stone Memorial Tuesday afternoon at Roane State’s tennis courts, but playing on their home court didn’t help as the Panthers and Lady Panthers each picked up 7-2 victories.

  • Tigers wallop Tellico Plains, 20...

    The Rockwood Tigers hosted the Tellico Plains Bears Tuesday night after a Monday night rain out between the two teams. A day off for rain didn't slow the Tigers, as they came out swinging and put on an offensive show, winning by a final score of 20-2.

  • Lady Jackets win Tiger Classic

    Playing seven games in two days didn’t bother the Kingston Lady Jackets softball team on Friday and Saturday, as Ronnie Ladd’s squad went 6-1 on their way to capturing the 2013 Tiger Classic in Decatur.

  • Lady ‘Cats ease by Rockwood, 2-1

    In what amounted to a true cat-fight, it was the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats escaping by the hair of their chinny-chin-chin over their in-county feline counterparts, the Rockwood Lady Tigers, by a 2-1 tally on Saturday afternoon in a tournament at Coalfield.

    The Lady 'Cats struck first with a pair of runs coming in on wild pitches in the top of the first inning.

  • Quail hunt set for Saturday

    The Knoxville Quail Forever Chapter and TWRA will sponsor a quail hunt at the McGhee-Carson Unit of the Tellico Lake WMA this Saturday, March 23.  

  • Midway keeps busy with 4 games...

    After a pair of rain outs last Monday and Tuesday, Midway and Harriman decided enough was enough and they got in a Wednesday game that was not previously scheduled. Midway would end up getting a 7-4 win over the Blue Devils, but the result would not be counted as a district game.

  • Cornellison signs with Tennessee...

    Haley Cornellison’s career has had its ups and downs over the past four years at Kingston, but Cornellison celebrated the ultimate high Friday when she signed scholarship papers with Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens.
    “I’m so excited,” Cornellison said after signing with the Lady Bulldogs. “I can’t wait to go play. I couldn’t have done this on my own. I’ve been blessed to have a great support team behind me.
    “I really like Tennessee Wesleyan. It has a community feel. It’s kind of like a home away from home for me. I feel like it’s a place where I’d fit in.”
