  • Cherokee, Midway middles split...

    The Cherokee Yellow Jackets and Midway Green Waves split a pair of games last Monday night at Roane County High School. The Lady Jackets won the opening game 40-25. Midway won the final game of the night 41-24.

    Girls Game

    Monday's game was a great game for a half, but the second half was dominated by Cherokee as Ashley Brackett's squad rolled to a 15-point victory.

    The first quarter was low scoring for both teams as Cherokee led 6-5 after six minutes of play.

  • Rockwood teams defeat BCS

    Girls Game

    For the Rockwood Lady Tigers, their showdown with the Berean Christian School Lady Eagles was a lop-sided affair, with the Lady Tigers taking a 76-38 win last Tuesday evening. Rockwood started the game on a 9-0 run before Berean Christian closed to within 11-9. But the Lady Tigers closed out the opening period strong, taking a 17-9 lead.

  • RHS football awards night set

    Former Rockwood Mayor Mike “Brillo” Miller will be the guest speaker for the annual Rockwood High School football awards night on Thursday, Dec. 16.


    The banquet and awards ceremony honoring the 2010 district championship team will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Rockwood First Baptist Church’s family life center.

  • Kingston sweeps in nondistrict...

    One thing was certain in John Jackson Memorial Gymnasium Tuesday night: Yellow Jackets were going to win.

    Kingston invaded Coalfield and came home with a sweep in nondistrict basketball action.

    Kingston chalked up a 57-44 win in girls action, while the Kingston boys earned a 62-57 win.

    GIRLS GAME

    After falling behind by double digits in the first half, Kingston took control of the game late in the second quarter for the 57-44 road win.

  • Bobcats, Lady 'Cats suffer...

    It doesn't happen often, but the Oliver Springs Bobcats were swept on the road by Oakdale Tuesday night.

    In most years, the Lady Bobcats are favored any time they meet the Lady Eagles, but this year was different as Oakdale ran their overall record to 10-0 with a 49-30 victory over Oliver Springs.

    In the boys game, the Bobcats continue to struggle while replacing most of last year's production and the result was a 43-34 setback at the hands of the Eagles.

  • Raiderettes hit triple digits,...

    The Roane State Raiderettes used the strength of seven players scoring in double-digits and five Columbia State technical fouls to steam roll their way to a 111-49 triumph over the Lady Chargers.

    Roane State had runs of 11-0, 16-6, and 15-5 to help lift it to a 51-23 halftime lead. In the second half, the Raiderettes had runs of 12-0, 28-5, and 13-5 to pull away for the lopsided win.

    Roane State had a decisive 57-42 edge in rebounds and a 19-12 advantage in steals. Roane State also made 10 3-pointers.

  • Bobcats split with Tigers

    A pair of District 4-A cat fights took place when Oliver Springs invaded Sunbright Friday night. When the final horn had sounded, the two schools settled on a split in their hardwood encounters. 

  • Blue Devils battle Bulldogs

    The Harriman Lady Blue Devils had more boards than Lumber Liquidators Friday night, tallying 54 rebounds in a 63-60 nail-biter over the Wartburg Central Lady Bulldogs.

  • Rockwood splits with Oakdale

    The Rockwood Tigers played their first home games of the season Friday night and the results were mixed as the Lady Tigers and Tigers split their two games with visiting Oakdale.

  • Midway Middle splits with Oliver...

    The Midway Middle School Green Waves picked up a hard fought 58-55 victory over Oliver Springs Thursday night at Midway.

    Things didn’t go as well for the Lady Waves as Oliver Springs cruised to a 48-20 victory.
