  • Meigs knocks off Harriman, 7-2

The first two games of the 2011 baseball season didn’t go as expected for the Harriman Blue Devils as Andy Adcox’s squad opened the season at 0-2.
The first loss came last Monday at the hands of Kingston. The second loss came on Thursday when the Blue Devils dropped a 7-2 decision at Meigs County.
One bad inning basically cost the Blue Devils the game Thursday as the Tigers used two walks, two hits and an error to score five runs and take the lead for good in the bottom of the first inning.

  • Waves, Lady Waves sweep Oakdale

After missing some early games due to rain, the Midway Green Waves and Lady Waves opened their season with a pair of doubleheader victories over Oakdale on Thursday.

Things were a little closer on the baseball diamond, but the results were the same as Midway won game one, 7-0, and they followed that with a 10-0 victory in game two.

  • Lady Jackets down Stone with...

After splitting four games over the weekend at the Tiger Classic in Dayton, Ronnie Ladd’s Kingston Lady Jackets opened District 4-AA play Monday evening with a 5-2 victory over visiting Stone Memorial.

Monday’s game was a bit unusual in that most games these days are decided by a team’s ability to manufacture runs with the short game. Kingston, however, didn’t play “small ball” Monday as the Lady Jackets used home runs from Katherine Butler, T.J. Wicks and Morgan Snow to account for three of the teams five runs.
