    The third time was the charm Wednesday night for the Harriman Blue Devils.

    After dropping a pair of close games to the Tellico Plains in the regular season, the Blue Devils got their revenge with a 57-43 victory over the Bears in the District 3-A title game at Rockwood.

    A fabulous postseason run came to a disappointing end Monday night for the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats as Michelle Christopher's squad dropped a heartbreaking 52-50 decision at the hands of Coalfield in the Region 2-A Tournament semifinals played at Wartburg.

    There will be no third straight trip to the TSSAA Class A State Tournament for the Grace Christian Academy Rams. Harriman made sure of that Wednesday night as the Blue Devils knocked off the Rams 58-50 in the Region 2-A Tournament semifinals.

    Wednesday's victory marks the second time this postseason that the Blue Devils have knocked off the Rams. Harriman had defeated the Rams 61-45 nine days earlier in the District 3-A Tournament played at Harriman.

    The year might change and new players make take the court, but Oliver Springs has remained the same when it comes District 4-A Tournament time. The No. 4 seed Lady Bobcats won their fifth straight District 4-A crown and ninth straight district tournament dating back to their Class AA days with a 48-43 victory over No. 2 seed Wartburg Monday night.

    It's hard to beat a good team three times in one season, but the Harriman Blue Devils were up to the task Friday night as Jeff King's squad ended Rockwood's season with a 61-46 victory in the opening round of the District 3-A Tournament at Harriman.

    Friday's victory keeps Harriman's season alive as the Blue Devils advance to Monday's semifinals and a match-up with regular season District 3-A champion Grace Christian Academy. Harriman, however, split with the Rams during the regular season.

    The Kingston Yellow Jacket wrestling team will again be represented at the TSSAA Division I State Tournament as senior Kody Morgan and junior Tyler Adams put together strong performances this past weekend at the Region 3 Tournament at Alcoa.

    Adams had the strongest showing as he made it all the way to the finals in the 140-pound weight class before dropping a 5-0 decision at the hands of Bradley Central's Bradley Colbaugh.

    After struggling through the regular season, many believed the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats would have trouble getting past the District 4-A Tournament play-in game, much less advance to the title game, but the Lady 'Cats are proving their doubters wrong.

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats took another step toward what they are hoping is a TMSAA East Tennessee Small Division Sectional championship Monday night with a dominating 43-25 victory over Bluff City in the tournament's quarterfinal round.

    While the 18-point margin of victory was impressive, there were some anxious times for Lady 'Cat fans, especially in the early going as the Lady Grizzlies scored 10 of the game's first 12 points and seemed well on their way to an easy victory.

    Cherokee's Jade Napier put on a show Friday night.

    The Lady Jacket point guard scored a game-high 24 points in less than three periods of play to lead Ashley Brackett's squad to a 48-34 victory over Robertsville in the first round of the TMSAA Large School Division Sectional Tournament at Sevierville Middle School.

    Napier and her Lady Jacket teammates put Friday's game away early. Cherokee raced out to an 18-5 lead after six minutes of play with 10 points from Napier leading the way.
