  • Harriman remains unbeaten in A...

    Saturday was a great day for the Harriman All-Stars in the Dixie Youth A sub district tournament being played at Harriman. The Blue Devils picked up a pair of wins Saturday to remain the only undefeated team in the tournament heading into play on Monday.

    Harriman's big day started Saturday morning with a 17-7 victory over Spring City, but the biggest win came later that evening with a 17-9 victory over Kingston in what was a showdown of the tournament's last two unbeaten teams.

  • AA Devils top Spring City, 17-10

    In what was a high-scoring affair, the Harriman AA All-Stars defeated Spring City 17-10 in Dixie Youth tournament action Saturday morning at Cherokee Middle School.
    Spring City started the game off with an RBI single by Reed Burton to take an early 1-0 lead.
    Harriman, however, responded with a four-run first inning, two runs coming off a Riel White single and a two-run homer by Brady Stubbs to make the score 4-1.

  • Harriman, Rockwood pick up...

    Saturday afternoon turned out great for the Harriman and Rockwood AA All-Stars as both won games in the Dixie Youth sub district tournament in Kingston.

    Rockwood took the field first and picked up a 16-8 victory over Spring City while Harriman cruised to a 14-5 victory over Caryville.

    With the wins, both teams remained undefeated in the round robin tournament as Harriman improved to 3-0 while Rockwood is 2-0.
    Harriman has also wrapped up a spot in this weekend’s District 8 AA Tournament in Tellico Plains.

  • Dixie Youth tourneys begin

    The 2011 Dixie Youth sub district 8 AA Tournament got off to a great start for two Roane County teams Friday night as both Harriman and Rockwood were victorious in opening round action. 

  • Kalpic signs with Campbell

    Roane State Community College men’s basketball player Antonio Kalpic signed to play with Division I Campbell University in North Carolina.

    Kalpic, a 6-9, 205-pound forward from Croatia, averaged 7.3 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game during the 2010-11 season.

    The battle for community bragging rights start Friday as Harriman and Kingston will both be hosting Dixie Youth sub district tournaments.

    The application period for all Wildlife Management Area (WMA) 2011 Big Game Quota Hunts will run through July 27, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced.
