  • Midway Green Wave finish third...

    It’s hard to beat a good team three times in one season, but the Midway Middle School Green Wave did just that Thursday evening. In the Area 4 AA consolation game, the Green Wave downed Lenoir City, 39-32.

    The victory keeps Midway’s season alive, as Justin O’Toole’s squad advanced to the TMSAA East Tennessee AA Sectional Tournament.

  • Calvary Baptist, MPCA split four...

    Mount Pisgah Christian Academy (MCPA) traveled to Calvary Baptist Tuesday night play two varsity and two junior varsity games.

    MPCA won the girls varsity 54-17 and the girls junior varsity 33-9, while Calvary Baptist won the boys varsity 53-31 and boys junior varsity 48-32.

    MPCA 54, Calvary Baptist 17: MPCA opened the varsity contest with a 20-0 run, before Calvary's Jasmine Davis converted a layup with 1:39 left in the first quarter.

  • Wilkerson leads RHS over...

    The Rockwood basketball teams split a District 3A doubleheader at Greenback Tuesday night, as the Tigers won 28-20 and the Lady Tigers lost 42-36.

    Rockwood 28, Greenback 20: The Tiger defense held Greenback to 7-of-40 from the field, as neither team had players to score in double-figures.

  • Evans’ trey gives Oliver Springs...

    Lane Evans' 3-point basket with three seconds left in overtime gave the Oliver Springs Bobcats a 67-66 victory over Sequoyah to gain a split in the doubleheader at Sequoyah Tuesday night. The Lady Bobcats were beaten 55-31 in the non-district game.

    Oliver Springs 67, Sequoyah 66: Austin Harmon scored seven first-quarter points to give the Chiefs a 12-11 lead.

    Harmon and Dylan Russell each buried 3-point baskets. Taylor Murray had four points for the Bobcats.

  • Area 4 AA Tournament: OSMS Lady...

    After receiving an opening round bye, the Oliver Springs Middle School Lady Bobcats advanced to the Area 4 AA Tournament Championship Game following a 27-21 victory over Spring City in a game played at Wartburg Central Middle School.

    The Lady ’Cats played Wartburg in the championship game.

    Wednesday’s victory also secured a berth in the TMSAA East Tennessee AA Sectional Tournament in Pigeon Forge that begins Saturday. The winner of Thursday’s championship game will receive a first round bye.

  • Area 4 AA Tournament: Harriman...

    The Harriman Middle School Blue Devils and Midway Green Wave entered play Wednesday in the Area 4 AA Tournament hoping to earn their way into Thursday’s title game at Wartburg Central Middle School.

    Harriman did just that, as they knocked off Lenoir City, 41-35.

    Midway, however, came up short, as they dropped a 38-23 decision against the host Bulldogs.

  • Area 4 AA Tournament: HMS girls...

    The opening round of the TMSAA Area 4 AA Tournament came to a close Tuesday evening at Wartburg Central Middle School, and the news wasn’t good for a pair of Roane County teams.

    The Harriman Lady Blue Devils would see their season end in heartbreaking fashion as Spring City converted an old-fashioned 3-point play with nine seconds remaining to pick up a 23-22 victory.

    Rockwood’s boys took the floor next and suffered a 44-23 setback at the hands of Lenoir City.

  • Kingston loses two games at CAK...

    After splitting a pair of basketball games at home with Christian Academy of Knoxville on Jan. 12, the Kingston basketball teams traveled to CAK Tuesday night, but came back to Roane County with two District 4AA losses.

    The Lady Jackets lost 62-57 for their first setback in the league, while the Yellow Jackets were beaten 58-49 to remain winless in the league.

  • Harriman loses at Grace Christian

    The Harriman Blue Devils and Lady Devils traveled to Grace Christian Academy Tuesday night to compete in district action.

    The Lady Devils, who suffered their first district loss a couple weeks ago at the hands of Midway, lost 52-44, while the Blue Devils, undefeated in district play, lost 77-64 to the Rams.

    Grace Christian 52, Harriman 44: The Lady Devils got off to a good start against the Lady Rams, but a tough second and third quarter’s plagued them from picking up the victory.

    Jada Johnson led the Lady Devils with 12.

  • Lady Waves defeat Concord...

    The Midway basketball teams welcomed District 3A's newest member, Concord Christian, to the school Tuesday night, as the Lady Waves taking care of business, winning 78-32 to go to 6-3 in the league.

    The Green Wave weren't as fortunate, falling to 55-48 to fall to 2-7 in the district, with Concord Christian earning their first district win.

    Midway will host Meigs County Friday at Middle Middle School because of the expected crowd, and will be back at the Boyd Woody Gymnasium for a make-up against Oakdale Monday.
