  • Kingston, Alcoa split games

    The Kingston basketball teams split a pair of games with District 4AA foe Alcoa Tuesday evening, as the Lady Jackets calmed the Lady Tornadoes 31-21 and the Tornadoes blew away the Yellow Jackets 55-41.
    Kingston 31, Alcoa 21: Riley Guillemet poured in 20 points, including four 3-point baskets, with eight rebounds to lead the Lady Jackets.
    Kingston led 10-7 after the first quarter, with both teams scoring six points each in the second quarter for 16-13 score, leaving the Yellow Jackets with the 3-point lead at the break.

    The Oliver Springs Middle School Lady Bobcats opened the TMSAA East Tennessee Class AA Sectional Tournament with a 37-32 victory over Sullivan North on Saturday, but that celebration was short-lived as Northview Academy eliminated the Lady ‘Cats in Monday’s quarterfinals, 28-22.
    Despite the season coming to a close, Oliver Springs head coach Allison Payne was happy with what her team accomplished this season.

  • Bobcats eliminated by Colonial...

    A strong season came to a disappointing end for the Oliver Springs Middle School Bobcats Saturday afternoon, as Lance Jones squad dropped a 42-26 decision to Colonial Heights in the opening round of the TMSAA Class AA Sectional Tournament in Pigeon Forge.
    “It was our first state tournament and we came out tight against a good basketball team that got upset in their district tournament,” Coach Jones said. “We were never able to recover. We made a run at them late, but then they made some shots.”

  • Calvary wins 15th contest

    The Calvary Crusaders recorded their 15th victory over the season, a 64-40 victory over Mount Pisgah in a key league matchup.
    Sophomore Landen Treadway opened the game with six points for the Crusaders, as the remaining starers, seniors Paul Plemon and Chase Roberts combined for seven points. Sophomore Jordan Snow hit a trey and T.J. Vestal added two points.
    Hayden Rusinek was out due to an ankle injury, so the Calvary bench had to be prepared to step up in his absence.  

  • Harriman beats Kingston on Pace...

    A capacity crowd on the annual pinkout and homecoming game at Kingston witnessed the Yellow Jackets and Blue Devils split a pair of non-district games, as the Blue Devils defeated the Yellow Jackets on Joe Pace's buzzer beater 56-54 after the Lady Jackets beat the Lady Devils 61-29.
    Harriman 56, Kingston 54: "The game was played at our pace. We did a good job executing our game plan. Matt Spellman started a point guard and handled the pressure," said Kingston Coach Colt Narramore.

  • Kingston, Catholic split...

    The Kingston Yellow Jackets and Catholic Fighting Irish traded wins on Monday. The Lady Jackets defeated Catholic for the second time this season by a score of 56-43, and the boys fell to the  No. 1 ranked team in the state in their classification.
    Kingston, 56, Catholic 43: The Kingston Lady Jackets (16-5, 4-2) cruised against Catholic on Monday night, picking up a convincing 56-43 victory over the Irish.

  • Rockwood DYB signups begin

    Rockwood Dixie Youth baseball and softball sign-ups are now underway at the Rockwood Community Center for ages 4 (weeball), 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 through Feb. 28.
    Coaches must sign up and pass a background check to be eligible to coach.
    The Community Center is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sign-ups can also being taken during basketball gams. The cutoff date is May 1 and the sign-up fee is $25.

    After a District 4AA loss to CAK last Tuesday, the Kingston basketball teams rebounded by sweeping a pair of non-district, road  games with Sequoyah Thursday night.
    The Lady Jackets beat Sequoyah 71-67 and the Yellow Jackets won 70-57.
    Kingston 71, Sequoyah 67: Riley Guillemet, Hannah Bailey and Abby Wilson tallied 22, 20 and 14 points, respectively, to lead the Lady Jackets.
    Madi Haymes led Sequoyah with 29 points, while  Emily Hawkins added 16.
