    The Rockwood Tigers closed the regular season on a high note Friday night as John Webb’s squad rolled to a 49-0 victory at Civitan Field.

    Kingston senior RB Demarcus ran for a career-high 229 yards and 3 TDs Thursday night in leading the Yellow Jackets to a 41-17 victory over Loudon.

    “It feels good to come together as a team and win a game like this,” Foster said after the game. “We've had a couple of games this year where we've let games slip away in the second half, but we didn't let that happen tonight. I had a big night, but I couldn’t have done it without our quarterback, offensive line and our wide receivers blocking down field.”

  • Lady 'Cats take third in...

    The Oliver Springs Middle School Lady Bobcats didn’t win the 2011 Hollis Eble title, but Paige Wright’s squad played well, winning three of four games to finish third overall.
    The Lady ‘Cats opened tournament play with a 31-9 victory over Petros-Joyner, but lost their second round game against eventual champion York Institute, 36-23. Oliver Springs then picked up a 37-35 victory over Rockwood and a 39-35 victory over Coalfield for the third place finish.

  • Roane School of Isshin-ryu...

    At the International Isshin-ryu Karate Association’s annual banquet and tournament (IIKA Nationals), the Roane School of Isshin-ryu Karate posted impressive tournament results. In true Olympic fashion, first place winners received Gold Medals, second place received Silver with Bronze going to all third place finishers.

  • Tigers win Eble Championship

    The Rockwood Middle School Tigers are hoping history repeats itself this season.
    Last year at this time, Bryan Powers’ squad won their second straight Hollis Eble Championship en route to what turned out to be an undefeated season and an East Tennessee Championship.
    Tuesday night, Rockwood made it three straight Hollis Eble championships with a 38-24 victory over York Institute.
    Tuesday’s win was the third in the tournament for the Tigers as Rockwood opened the tourney with 42-20 victory over Sunbright before beating Coalfield in the semifinals, 49-17.

  • Regular season ends Friday night

    The final week of the regular season is here and it should be a wild one as all five county teams could still make the playoffs.

    Rockwood, Oliver Springs and Kingston have secured their postseason berth, but Harriman and Midway still have work to do.

    The high school football game between Midway and Rockwood will be played Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Rockwood’s Civitan Field.
