    Tommy Wells, former Cohn High School All-American running back, will be inducted into the Metro-Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday, April 10. The ceremony will take place at the LP Field banquet hall—home of the Tennessee Titans.

    The Kingston Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets tennis teams traveled to Cumberland County Monday and split a pair of closes matches with the Jets and Lady Jets.

    Kingston’s win came in boys action as the Jackets remained unbeaten on the season with a 6-3 victory.

    The Kingston Lady Jackets softball team ran their season record to 9-3 on Tuesday as Ronnie Ladd’s squad traveled to Decatur and shut out Meigs County, 3-0.

    The Oliver Springs Bobcats played a pair of non district games earlier this week against Washburn, and the results were good for Tony Kegley’s squad as the Bobcats won at Washburn on Monday, 10-6, before completing the two-game sweep at home on Tuesday, 3-2.

    The Kingston boys tennis team ran their season record to 3-0 last week with a 6-3 victory over Rhea County.
    The news wasn’t as good for the girls, however, as Rhea County cruised to a 9-0 victory.
    The Lady Golden Eagles dominated play as Kingston won just one game in singles and one game in doubles.
    In singles, Lauren Nellis, Amanda Leachman, Gabriel Miller, Mikhelia Miller, Caitlyn Swymer and Amber Luttrell all competed, but were defeated.
    In doubled, Nellis and Leachman were defeated as were Miller and Miller, along with Swymer and Luttrell.

  • Midway tops Wartburg, 4-1

    The Midway Green Wave picked up their fifth win of the season with a 4-1 over Wartburg on Friday. The game was a rescheduled game from an earlier postponement due to Wartburg’s basketball team playing in the TSSAA Class A State Tournament.
    Midway has had several strong pitching performances this season and got another one Friday as Logan Davidson pitched all seven innings and zipped a two-hitter past the Bulldogs. Davidson walked five, but had six strikeouts. The only Wartburg run was unearned when they scored on a Midway error in the sixth inning.
