  • Yellow Jackets defeat Rhea...

    The Kingston basketball teams closed out the Jim Cordell Christmas Classic, by splitting their final two games at Harriman High School Friday, as the Lady Jackets lost 42-32 to the Dresden Lady Lions, while the Yellow Jackets defeated Rhea County 77-75.

  • Blue Devils win 14th straight...

    The Harriman basketball teams completed the annual Jim Cordell Christmas Classic Friday, as Blue Devils defeated Oneida 77-55 and McMinn Central 64-53 to extend their winning streak to 14 games and finish the tournament with a 5-0 record, while the Lady Devils lost 29-28 to complete the tournament with a 1-2 record.
    Both teams are in action this week, as they played Midway Tuesday and will host Rockwood Friday. Both games are District 3A match-ups.

  • Rockwood, Oakdale split games

    The Rockwood basketball teams will return to the court Friday night against Harriman in their District 3A rematch, after splitting a pair of games with Oakdale on the final night of the Jim Cordell Christmas Classic Friday at Harriman High School.
    The Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Eagles 39-32 to finish the tournament 3-0, while the Eagles beat the Tigers 50-43 to finish 1-2 in the tournament.

  • Rockwood, Oakdale split games

    The Rockwood basketball teams will return to the court Friday night against Harriman in their District 3A rematch, after splitting a pair of games with Oakdale on the final night of the Jim Cordell Christmas Classic Friday at Harriman High School.
    The Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Eagles 39-32 to finish the tournament 3-0, while the Eagles beat the Tigers 50-43 to finish 1-2 in the tournament.

  • Oliver Springs defeats Midway 70...

    The Midway basketball teams lost a pair of games in the final day of the Jim Cordell Christmas Classic at Harriman Middle School, as the Lady Waves were beaten by perennial power Jackson County 62-44, while the Green Wave lost to county rival Oliver Springs 70-66.
    Jackson County 62, Midway 44: For a half, the girls from “South Of the River” held firm against the Jackson County Lady Blue Devils, but Jackson County’s Kyleigh Hardy nearly single-handedly maimed the Midway Lady Waves defense in the second half en route to a 62-44 win.

  • Lady Devils defeat Sweetwater in...

    After opening the Jim Cordell Christmas Tournament Wednesday with two wins by the Blue Devils and a loss by the Lady Devils, the two teams posted wins Thursday evening.
    The Lady Devils picked up a nice, overtime victory over the Lady Wildcats over Sweetwater, of 52-49, while the Blue Devils took down the Cumberland County Jets 63-50.
    Harriman 52, Sweetwater 49: Some wins do a lot more for a team than others, and that was the case as the Lady Devils picked up the needed victory over the Lady Wildcats.

  • Oliver Springs loses catfight to...

    The Oliver Springs Bobcats suffered their second defeat in the Jim Cordell Christmas Tournament Thursday evening, losing 71-61 to the Sweetwater Wildcats.
    Sweetwater opened the game with a 5-0 run, but baskets by Matt Gaylor,  Jacob Humphries and Jeremiah Johnson gave the 'Cats a 7-5 lead with under five minutes left in the first quarter. Oliver Springs had three turnovers in their first five positions of the contest.

    The Rockwood Tigers and Coalfield Yellow Jackets had themselves a series split on day two of the Jim Cordell Christmas Classic. The Coalfield Yellow Jackets may not have had as high of an output as the previous day against North Greene, but it was enough to eke out a 45-38 defensive duel against the Tigers. Rockwood;however, the Lady Tigers gained their revenge as they outlasted the Coalfield Lady Jackets by a 52-44 tally.
