  • Lady 'Dogs gain valuable...

    Jason Davis led his Lady Bulldogs to a state tournament in his rookie season.

    His second season will be a bit tougher with the loss of six seniors that scored 2,454 career points. He took a big step in developing his team this summer with team camp trips to Shelbyville and Tennessee Tech last month.

    The trip to Shelbyville was a stern test for an inexperienced Wartburg team.

  • Good news, bad news for Kingston

    It was a good news, bad news two days on Tuesday and Wednesday for the Kingston AAA All-Stars in the Dixie Youth District 8 AAA Tournament in Rockwood.

    The bad news was the Jackets had to play Madisonville on both days and the results were a pair of losses for the Jackets.

    On Tuesday, Kingston gave the Tornadoes all they wanted before dropping a 2-0 decision. On Wednesday, however, Madisonville was in complete control as they rolled to a 13-2 victory in the tournament's championship game.

    The Harriman Major All-Stars are heading back to the Dixie Youth State Tournament.

    The Blue Devils secured their tournament berth Monday night in Madisonville with a 14-3 victory over Rockwood.

    The Tigers also entered Monday’s contest with a shot at earning a spot in the state tournament that begins on Monday, July 14 in Chattanooga, but the Tigers were eliminated from postseason play with the loss.

    Nothing has been settled heading into the final day of play in the Dixie Youth District 8 AA Tournament in Kingston. After three days of play and eight total games, four of the five teams in the tournament still had a shot of making the Dixie Youth AA State Tournament later this month.

  • Harriman youths pick up one win

    After not competing in last week’s sub-district tournament, the Harriman A All-Stars finally got their chance to play and the results have been mixed as the Blue Devils have one win in their first three round robin games in the Dixie Youth District 8 A Tournament.

    Harriman played two games Saturday. The first was a 17-11 loss to Madisonville, but the second was a 20-11 victory over Spring City.

    Harriman’s third game came on Monday and the result was a tough 14-13 extra-inning loss to Sweetwater.

  • Kingston wins in marathan game

    The Oak Ridge All-Stars gave Kingston all they wanted and then some in the Dixie Youth AA sub-district tournament, but in the end the Jackets survived and picked up the tournament championship with a winner-take-all 15-12 victory in extra innings.

    Wednesday’s title game was actually the second nail-biter of the day played between the two teams and third in three days.

    Two Roane County teams were eliminated form the Dixie Youth AA sub-district tournament Tuesday at Rockwood while another Roane County team was one win away from winning the sub-district title.
