  • Highlanders eliminate Yellow...

    It was cold shooting in the second half that spelled “d-e-f-e-a-t” for the Kingston Yellow Jackets as they took a 60-46 loss to the Scott County Highlanders, thus ending the season for the Yellow Jackets.

  • Lady Bears maul Lady Devils 60-26

    A year ago the Harriman Lady Blue Devils made a magical postseason run that ended at the TSSAA Class A State Tournament in Murfreesboro.
    The 2017 postseason won’t have the same happy ending, as Harriman’s season came to a close Thursday night following a 60-26 loss at Tellico Plains in the opening round of the District 3A Tournament.
    Thursday’s contest was decided quickly as the Lady Bears scored the game’s first 13 points before Jada Johnson put the Lady Devils on the board with a layup with 1:54 left in the opening period.

  • Greenback calms Lady Waves post-...

    The Midway Lady Green Waves’ season came to an end on Thursday, as they lost to the Greenback Lady Cherokees by a score of 47-32.
    Each team  traded baskets early in the first quarter. The Green Wave game plan suffered a major setback when guard Paige Bacon suffered a sprained ankle early in the quarter.
    Midway was able to push through despite the injury and lead 11-10 after the opening period. Caitlyn Ross had six points in the frame.

  • Lady Bobcats post-season run ends

    The Sunbright Lady Tigers used a fourth-quarter rally to defeat the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats 50-47 in the District 4A Tournament Wednesday night in Oliver Springs.
    Coach Michelle Christopher's Lady 'Cats started off quickly, building a 10-3 lead with 3:11 left in the first quarter, thanks to Allyssa Suttles' eight points, including two 3-point baskets.

  • Roane State CC sweeps Cleveland...

    The Roane State basketball teams swept a pair of games at Cleveland State Wednesday night, as the Raiderettes defeated the Lady Cougars 73-59 and the Raiders tamed the Cougars 61-56.
    Roane State 73, Cleveland State 59: The Raiderettes led 17-13 after one quarter and stretched the lead to 36-28 at halftime with a 19-15 second quarter. The Raiderettes outscored CSCC 19-13 in the third quarter and matched the Lady Cougars with 18 points in the fourth quarter for the 73-59 final.

  • Midway, Greenback split district...

    The Midway basketball team closed out the regular season by splitting a pair of District 3A make-up games with Greenback Tuesday, as the Lady Waves defeated the Lady Cherokees 52-42 to claim fourth place in the the league tournament, while the Cherokees defeated the Green Wave  51-41, sending the boys into sixth place.

  • Harriman dominates Tellico...

    A sluggish start provided drama early, but the Harriman Blue Devils closed out with a dominant second half to defeat the Tellico Bears 84-46.
    “Our defense has taken a few steps back, and tonight we focused on getting back to the fundamentals,” said Harriman coach Shay Shannon.
    Finding the bottom of the net was not an issue for the Devils, as they amassed 19 points in the first period of play. Isaiah McClain dropped nine points in the opening quarter.

  • Midway rolls over Rockwood in 3A...

    The Midway Green Wave played spoiler on senior night in Rockwood, sweeping the Tigers in both games. The Lady Waves won by a score of 48-42, followed by the boys holding on in a 52-50 contest.
    Midway 48,Rockwood 42:  A strong start was huge for Midway in their road victory at Rockwood, as the Lady Waves held on to win 48-42. This win guarantees Midway will be playing in the 4-5 game in the district tournament.

  • Crusaders beat Seahawks in OT...

    In front of a packed house last Monday night at Calvary Baptist gym, a battle was brewing. The division leading Calvary Crusaders were set to battle the Seahawks of Cedarview for the first place spot. The game lived up to all the hype of an epic battle and was decided in overtime. 
    The opening tip went to the Seahawks for a quick bucket. That was the beginning of what would be a high scoring affair.   

  • Yellow Jackets buzz Sequoyah...

    The Kingston Yellow Jackets capped off their regular season with a resounding bang on Monday night, generating a 61-37 win in the girls game on the strength of 20-plus point efforts from Riley Guillemet and Abby Wilson, while the Kingston boys scored a convincing 76-58 victory.
