    Homecoming for the Harriman Blue Devils proved to be a joyous occasion as the Devils blasted the Wartburg Central Bulldogs by a 40-0 margin Friday night.

    “We started off sluggish, but we picked up the pace as the game went on,” Harriman Head Coach Travis Tapp said after the game.

    The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission approved the state’s 2014-15 commercial fishing proclamation at its September meeting.

    The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency had made its proposal for 2014-15 during last month’s meeting. TWRA Fisheries Division Chief Bobby Wilson reviewed the proposals during the committee meeting session.

    Tahj Bazel did a little bit of everything for Rockwood Middle School on Thursday night, but it wasn't enough to lead the Tigers to victory on homecoming night against Wartburg, as the Bulldogs won the 38-36 shootout.

    The Harriman Middle School Blue Devils took Sunbright to the woodshed Thursday evening and put on an offensive display en route to a convincing 44-6 rout.

    That’s what Larry Green said following Thursday’s middle school contest between Oliver Springs and Spring City, and the ninth year Oliver Springs head coach was right as his Bobcats downed the Bulldogs in a double overtime thriller between a pair of unbeaten teams at D.J. Brittan Field, 28-22.

    The High School Basketball Fall League at Oakdale is nearing an end, as only one more week of regular season competition will take place before championship night. 

  • Alcoa tops Cherokee, 43-26


    The Alcoa Middle School Tornadoes came into Dr. Nat Sugarman Field and had to fight off a furious second half rally to defeat Cherokee by a 43-26 margin on Tuesday. 

  • Deer season opens Saturday

     The 2014 deer archery-only hunting season opens statewide in Tennessee on Saturday, Sept. 27. The archery season dates in all three of the state’s deer hunting units are the same. The dates are Sept. 27-Oct. 24 and Oct. 27-Nov. 7.
