  • Green Wave hopes to keep impetus

    The Midway Green Wave will continue on the road this Friday as they travel to Monterey in the second game of the season.

    Last week, Midway faced the Rockwood Tigers and ran out of time, losing 41-40.

    Although no one likes to lose, the Green Wave showed a lot in the game in being able to stay toe-to-toe with the senior heavy Tigers. It is hoped the momentum gained in the last half of week one’s game will carry over this week.

    Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) offices are receiving reports of dead deer in scattered areas of the state. The timing and details of the reports are all indicative of hemorrhagic disease (HD).

    HD occurs at varying levels of severity each year in Tennessee’s deer herd. The catch-all term for this disease is hemorrhagic disease (HD), and epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) and bluetongue are the closely related viruses that fall under the umbrella of HD.

    A preview of the commercial fishing and sport fish proclamations will be presented at the August meeting of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission.

    The meeting will be held Aug. 29-30 (Tuesday-Wednesday) at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Region II Ray Bell Building. Committee meetings begin at 1 p.m., Tuesday while the regular meeting starts at 9 a.m., Wednesday. The public is invited to attend.

    Free Hunting Day is an event the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency annually provides in hopes of increasing interest in hunting. Squirrel hunting is one of Tennessee’s oldest and favorite traditions. The day serves as an excellent opportunity for persons to experience the enjoyment of the sport.
