Basketball season tipped off Monday night at the 2014 Hollis Eble Tournament at Oakdale.

The evening started great for Roane County teams, as the Rockwood Tigers and Lady Tigers both picked up victories. The rest of the evening didn’t go as well, however, as Harriman’s boys and girls dropped games as did the Oliver Springs Bobcats.

  • Midway stumbles at Meigs County...

It was a mixture of good news and bad news for the Midway Green Wave Friday night at Meigs County.

The good news was that senior quarterback Mason Woody returned to lead the Green Wave after he broke his collar bone in the second game of the season against Whitwell.

  • Jackets pick up second win, 17-14

It wasn't pretty at times, but the Kingston Yellow Jackets picked up their second win of the season Friday night with a hard fought 17-14 victory over Sequoyah at Dr. Nat Sugarman Memorial Field.
Muddy field conditions made it hard for either team to move freely, but Sequoyah's Power-I offense seemed more suited for a sloppy field. Kingston's defense, however, held the Chiefs to 154 yards rushing on 36 carries. Sequoyah added 60 yards passing to end the evening with 214 total yards.

  • Sunbright knocks off Oliver...

The fur was most definitely flying in the "cat-fight"between Oliver Springs and Sunbright Friday night, but it was the Bobcats taking a tough 39-7 loss at home.

After the Bobcats' first drive stalled out at the Tiger 24-yard line, Sunbright would march 76 yards in nine plays, scoring on a Luke Daniel to Braxton Swint 22-yard strike.

  • Greene, Devils soar past Bears,...

Coming off a heartbreaking loss against loss against Greenback, and being off from school for a week with fall break, it would have been understandable if the Harriman Blue Devils weren’t clicking on all cylinders Friday night in their District 3-A clash at Tellico Plains.
