For the second time in five days, the Harriman Blue Devils and Lady Devils picked up a District 3-A sweep over Greenback.

On Monday, it was the Blue Devils picking up a pair of victories at home. Friday night, Harriman took their brooms to Greenback and completed the season sweep of the Cherokees.

The Lady Devils opened the evening with a 52-34 victory then the Blue Devils completed the sweep with a 74-55 victory in the nightcap game.
Girls Game

Friday's contest was close for a half, but the second half belonged to the Lady Devils as Harriman rolled to an 18-point victory.

Harriman opened the contest looking inside for Lindsey Higgins and Higgins responded with three baskets in leading the Lady Devils to a 15-10 lead after eight minutes of play.

Higgins scored four more points in the second period, but a single basket from Olyvia Lunsford was the only other basket Harriman scored in the period. Greenback, however, only gained two points in the frame as the Lady Devils took a 21-18 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Harriman would blow the game open in the third quarter. Powered by five points each from Lunsford and Jadah Gallaher along with a three-pointer from freshman Dee Boyd, the Lady Devils outscored Greenback 18-4 in the frame to take a 39-22 lead into the final period of play.

Greenback did play better in the final period, but they never made a run in the fourth quarter as the Lady Devils cruised home with the 18-point victory.

Higgins led Harriman on the night with 16 points. Cree Moore (11 points), Gallaher (10 points) and Lunsford (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Lady Devils.

Ashley Brown scored 11 points to lead Greenback.

Harriman (52) Gallaher 10, Boyd 3, Goins 2, Lunsford 10, Higgins 16, Moore 11.

Boys Game

When Harriman beat Greenback last Monday, it was Harriman jumping out to an early 17-point lead before having to rally late for a two-point victory.

Friday night, it was the Cherokees jumping on the Blue Devils early, but Harriman would dominate the second half on their way to a 74-55 victory.

Greenback came out smoking Friday as Nick Sabo scored nine points while Trevor Franklin and Tyler Bryant added five each in the first period that would see the Cherokees holding a 19-12 lead.

Darius Gallaher was Harriman's leading scorer in the first quarter with six points.

Harriman picked up the pace offensively in the second period, but their defense was still lacking as the Cherokees led 37-33 at intermission.

Xavier Howard and Dimitrique Inman paced Harriman's 21-point second period with seven points each while Franklin buried a pair of three-pointers for Greenback.

The defense that was nowhere to found for the Blue Devils in the first half showed up in a big way in the second half. Harriman would outscore Greenback 19-7 in the third period to take a 52-44 lead into the final period of play.

Howard, Ben Davis and Shaquille Love all scored five points in the quarter for the Blue Devils while Bryant scored all seven points for the Cherokees.

The fourth quarter would be a carbon copy of the third as Harriman dominated the frame. The Devils doubled up the Cherokees 22-11 in the period to put the finishing touches on their 19-point victory.

Howard (17 points), Davis (14 points), Gallaher (12 points) and Inman (11 points) all scored in double figures for the Blue Devils while Love (9 points) and Austin White (8 points) were a basket away from giving the Devils six players in double figures.

Bryant led Greenback with a game-high 22 points while Sabo (12 points) and Franklin (11 points) also scored in double figures.

Harriman (74) Howard 17, Dishman 3, Inman 11, Gallaher 12, Davis 14, White 8, Love 9.
