A 78-year-old Ten Mile man was killed in an automobile crash on Gallaher Road Tuesday.

The collision involved a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Amos H. Woods and a 2005 tractor trailer driven by David Burkhart of Knoxville.

Woods was killed.

Burkhart, 48, was hauling aluminum shavings.

The crash happened near Rarity Ridge subdivision.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Burkhart was entering the roadway from a parking lot.

He turned across both southbound lanes, the report said, into the path of Woods, who ran under the tractor trailer.

The report said citations and charges are pending.

Three people have died in crashes in Roane County this year.

Tuesday’s crash was the second deadly accident in four days.

Dina M. Blevins of Mountain View Road, Rockwood, was killed in a wreck on that stretch of road Saturday, April 16.
