The Harriman Blue Devils and Lady Devils closed out the pre Christmas portion of their schedule Monday evening with a pair of big wins over visiting Midway.

The Lady Devils took the floor first and used a big second half to pick up a 54-37 victory over the Lady Waves.

Harriman's boys picked up an even bigger win as they cruised to a 67-44 victory.

Girls Game

Midway played well in the first half, but the Lady Devils played even better in the second half and the result was a 54-37 victory for Jim Cordell's squad.

Neither team did a lot offensively in the first half. Harriman would lead 9-3 after eight minutes of play, but Midway rallied and won the second period, 11-8, to pull within three points (17-14) at intermission.

Harriman started to gain control in the third period. Powered by nine points from Higgins, the Lady Devils added seven points to their lead and took a 30-20 lead into the final period of play.

The final period featured more free throw shooting than actual basketball as the two teams combined to shoot 41 free throws. Harriman made 10 of their 19 charity tosses in the period to help preserve the 17-point victory.

Higgins had a huge game in leading Harriman to the victory as the Lady Devil junior post scored 19 points, pulled down 17 rebounds and blocked three shots.
