The Harriman City Council approved the purchase of three vehicles for the Harriman Police Department during its meeting Tuesday, July 2.

Council approved spending roughly $46,500 for three 2017 Ford Escapes from Jerry Duncan Ford in Harriman.

The vehicles, which will be unmarked, will need to be outfitted with a light bar and a radio, said Harriman Police Chief Baron Tapp.

He said each of the vehicles is a program car and each has about 16,000 miles of use.

The purchase was included in the proposed FY 2019-20 budget.
