Jackets sweep Loudon

The Kingston Lady Jackets earned a big win Friday night as the Lady Jackets led nearly from wire-to-wire for an impressive 48-42 win over a very talented Loudon Lady Redskins team. 

After Loudon hit the first bucket of the game in a three-pointer, the Lady Jackets buzzed to life with a 14-4 tilt in the opening period to take the early 14-7 lead. 

A 10-0 run by Loudon to open the second period gave them a brief 17-14 lead, but a 10-2 run by the Lady Jackets gave Kingston a 24-19 halftime lead.

Loudon would cut the gap to three points at the end of the third period, making the score 34-31, but Kingston got out to a 10-point lead at one stretch thanks to a 10-2 run and then held on for the 48-42 win.

The Lady Jackets had a 31-24 edge on the boards and a 13-9 tilt in team steals. 

The Lady Jackets were led by Haley Cornellison (19 points) and Makayla Cordell (10 points, 7 boards).

Makisha Fuller (7 boards) and Mollie Eason (5 assists) also had great performances in the win. 

Loudon was led in defeat by Zoe Grimes (16 points, 6 boards), Savannah Berry (9 points), Mikala Hampton (7 points) and Chelsie Moore (6 points, 7 boards).

Boys Game 

In the boys game, Aaron Fielden had perhaps the best game of his career as a Yellow Jacket, scoring 20 points en route to a 57-31 romp over the Redskins.

Kingston played a nearly perfect first period, taking an early 18-4 advantage.

Kingston kept it up in the second period as they used an 8-0 run at one point to take a 30-11 lead at halftime.

Loudon cut three points from the deficit in the third period, trailing 41-25 going into the final stanza, but Kingston stormed out of the gates in the final period with a blistering pace that left the Redskins agog with a 16-6 surge through the final period to take the 57-31 win. 

Kingston had a 38-30 edge on the boards but lost in team steals, 8-7. 

Fielden (20 points), Robbie Szozda (9 points, 5 boards), and Jordan Huddleston (8 points, 13 boards) along with Darrin Mossing (7 points) led the scoring charge for the Jackets. 

Derek Basler (5 boards) also played well in the win. 

Loudon was led in the loss by Jordan Blevin (14 points, 6 boards), and Zack Sellers (6 points). Jadan Bailey (12 boards) had a strong showing in the loss for Loudon.
