Things may have started off a bit shaky for the Kingston Lady Jackets, but a strong second half with five goals in the span of 20 minutes gave the Lady Jackets a 6-0 win over the Scott High Lady Highlanders.

“Basically, we played 10 minutes of awesome soccer tonight,” said Kingston head coach Greg Bowman after the game. “We have got to work on control and make them play our style of soccer.”

The lone goal of the first half came 18 minutes into the contest when Christina Neal scored off of an Allison Rich assist to make the score 1-0 for the Lady Jackets, which is what the score was at halftime.

The Lady Jackets added to their lead at the 46 minute mark when April Parkison scored off of an Amanda Riggs assist, making the score 2-0 for Kingston. Three minutes later, Neal scored her second goal of the contest off an assist by Riggs, pushing the score to 3-0. One minute later, Riggs got in on the scoring action, to boost the lead to 4-0 on an Allison Klinker assist.

Alex Hartley scored the next goal at the 63-minute mark on an April Parkison assist to give the Lady Jackets a 5-0 lead. Two minutes later, Klinker scored an unassisted goal to make the final score 6-0.

Kingston had 27 shots on goal to 15 for Scott High. Christina Neal (2 goals) was the leading scorer with Parkison (1 goal, 1 assist), Riggs (1 goal, 2 assists), Klinker (1 goal, 1 assist) and Hartley (1 goal) led the Lady Jackets in scoring as Michaela Grubb (11 saves) and Neal (3 saves) led the goal-keeping for the Lady Jackets.

“I thought we played better in the second half than we did the first, but we need to make the other play our game,” said Coach Bowman.
