For almost 60 minutes, the Kingston Lady Jackets were in a scoreless standoff with the Webb Lady Spartans in soccer Monday evening, but Hannah Seay scored what turned out to be the winning goal for the Webb Lady Spartans at the 60-minute mark for the 1-0 win over Kingston.

“I'm just sad right now that we lost,” said a deflated Kingston head coach Greg Bowman. “But we do have all of our players healthy now and hopefully we bounce back here in the next few games.”

In the first half, both teams had plenty of opportunities to score, but goal-keeping prevailed as Micheala Grubb made eight saves in the first half for the Lady Jackets.

In the second half, things remained the same until  Seay scored on a corner kick to make the score 1-0.

Kingston had a few more chances to score with their last opportunity to tie the game with about a minute left just sailing over the net by a foot, giving Webb the 1-0 win.

Grubb (15 saves) and Christina Neal (3 saves) had a standout game in goal for the Lady Jackets in the loss.

“We just have to own the ball better,” said Coach Bowman. “We're not playing kickball out there; we're playing soccer. We've got to do a better job of dribbling and passing.”
