The Roane State Raiderettes remained red-hot over the weekend as Monica Boles' squad ran their winning streak to seven straight with wins over Motlow State on Friday and Volunteer State on Saturday.

On Friday, the Raiderettes had a fairly easy time as they picked up a 77-57 victory over the Lady Bucks of Motlow State. Saturday was a bit tougher, but the Raiderettes ran their season mark to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play with a 75-71 victory over Volunteer State.

Friday's Game

Tasha Phillips and Jill Herman have been Roane State's big guns all year and the duo was at it again Friday night. Phillips (24 points, 9 rebounds, 5 blocks, 3 steals) and Herman (22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) combined to hit 17 of their 26 shots on the evening.

The Lady Bucks, on the other hand, couldn't throw it in the ocean against the Raiderettes pressure. Motlow State hit only 25 percent (20 of 80) of their field goal attempts on the evening.

Roane State's hot shooting allowed the Raiderettes to grab a 42-31 lead at halftime and they added nine points to their lead in the second half.

Jill Herman put on a shooting clinic Saturday afternoon and that was the difference as the Raiderette guard buried 10 three-pointers and scored 32 points in leading Roane State to a 75-71 victory over the Lady Pioneers.

Herman's bombs, along with another great night on defense paved the way to the Raiderettes victory. Roane State held Volunteer State to a meager 33.8 percent (23 of 68) shooting on the night.

Saturday's game was close throughout as Roane State led 36-33 at halftime then they outscored the Lady Pioneers 39-38 in the second half for a four-point victory.
