REACH spaghetti dinner surpasses expectations

-A A +A

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who helped make our first spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Operation REACH such a success; we raised more than $2,100.

This was our first spaghetti dinner and without selling tickets in advance, we were preparing for 100; needless to say, we probably tripled that number.

We learned a few lessons we will take with us for next year, such as more pasta and faster please!

I also want to mention that this would not have gone off as well without the coordination of my lovely wife, Marilyn.

Others who helped were Melissa Browder, Ann Davis, Teresa Jackson and the ever-faithful Calfee crew.

The Roane County High School Young Republicans didn’t just show up; this group of young men showed up to work, and I am proud of each of them.

Our dessert auction was a great success, thanks to the generous donations from Gibson Girls, Gondolier, Tracy Waldrop, Ann Stewart, Holly Travis and Marilyn Calfee.

Operation REACH is a nonprofit organization that began with the Kingston Jaycees 38 years ago.

Money raised is spent on Roane County children.
