Former Rockwood Mayor Mike “Brillo” Miller will be the guest speaker for the annual Rockwood High School football awards night on Thursday, Dec. 16.

The banquet and awards ceremony honoring the 2010 district championship team will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Rockwood First Baptist Church’s family life center.

Miller was a member Rockwood’s 1976 state championship football team. An avid supporter of the school’s athletic programs, he has represented the Rockwood area on the Roane County Board of Education for more than 20 years. He recently completed a term as board chairman and is the school board’s longest-sitting member.

Miller is employed with Rockwood Electric Utility as its manager of customer services.

Tickets for the banquet and ceremony are $8 each and may be purchased from any member of the Rockwood Rotary Club or Rockwood High School cheerleading squad.

Longtime Rockwood attorney J. Polk Cooley will serve as master of ceremonies for the event, which is a Rotary Club public service project.
