RMS splits with Midway

  hool Green Waves traveled to Rockwood for a rare Friday night game and when the night was over, the Green Waves and Tigers split their first meeting of the year.

Both games were close and would see the eventual winner trailing at halftime. 

The Lady Waves trailed 17-16 at halftime and battled back for a 37-32 victory. Rockwood's boys trailed 19-17 at the break, but came back in the fourth quarter for a 42-38 victory.

Girls Game

Midway started slow, but finished strong in picking up a 37-32 victory on Friday.

The first quarter would see Rockwood race out to an 11-5 lead. Lexi Hill and Israel Summerall scored four points each for the Lady Tigers in the opening period.

The roles were basically reversed in the second period as Midway won the period 11-6 to pull within 17-16 at halftime. Abby Bertram and Jessie Lewis scored four points each for Midway in the second period while Summerall scored four for the Lady Tigers.

The third period was played to a draw with both teams scoring nine points. Midway's Alexis Taylor scored four points in the period to lead all scorers.

Midway saved their best for last as the Lady Waves outscored Rockwood 12-6 in the frame to make the final score 37-32. Bertram led Midway's fourth period charge with eight points.

Bertram led all scorers on the night with 14 points while Lewis added 11 for the Lady Waves.

Carson Evans paced Rockwood with 11 points while Summerall had 10.

Rockwood (32) Evans 11, Summerall 10, Young 6, Hill 6.

Boys Game

A lot of people were looking forward to Friday's match-up between two undefeated teams, and the match-up didn't disappoint as the Tigers rallied from six points down entering the final period to pick up a 42-38 victory.

Rockwood opened strong as five players scored in the first six minutes to give the Tigers a 12-8 lead.

Midway, however, used six points from Jacob Cawood and five from Cameron Hashmi to take a 19-17 lead at halftime.

Cawood led Midway in the first half with eight points while Colby Turner scored eight points for the Tigers.

Midway continued its strong play in the third quarter as the Green Waves outscored the Tigers 13-9 to take a 32-26 lead with one period left to play. Jason Gaus (5 points) and Griffin Dishner (4 points) led Midway in the period while Drake Long scored five points for the Tigers.

Long had a monstrous final period in leading the Tigers from behind to the four-point victory. Long scored 12 points in the frame, including 8-8 from the charity stripe.

Long led the Tigers on the night with 17 points while Turner added 12.

Gaus scored 11 points for the Green Waves.
