It was doubleheader Saturday at Oak Ridge in week two of the Tennessee Valley League. Both Kingston and Rockwood visited Oak Ridge's two teams and each came away with one win each.

Kingston started the day in good shape getting a last minute win in the cricket contest, but the hoppers and cutters would both fall in close games against Oak Ridge West (Cardinal).

Rockwood came in later in the afternoon and they also won a close game in the cutter contest. Oak Ridge East (Gray) won the first two games in the set.

Kingston vs. OR West

The Kingston crickets won a close game against Oak Ridge in a shootout that didn't end until the very last play of the game. The 34-32 win pushed the Kingston crickets to 2-0.

Javarie Ashford scored all five Kingston touchdowns with four runs of 65 yards and one of 70 yards. Garrett Brown added two important two-point conversions the second of which would be the game winner.

Kendall Jackson answered Ashford with five TDs for OR West. Joseph Thompson would get the only two-point run for OR West.

Ashford scored his last touchdown with only 16 seconds left in the game. Jackson appeared to get loose for a final TD in the final seconds, but the run was nullified on a penalty.

The Kingston hoppers fell 22-6, but trailed only 16-6 at halftime.

Bradley Keathley set up Kingston's first touchdown with a 69-yard run to the one yard line. Daunte' Inman scored on the next play to go to grab an early 6-0 lead.

Oak Ridge answered with TD runs from Ralph Davidson, Tyrese Pendergrass and Darian Stewart. Stewart’s run covered 90 yards late in the game.

The Kingston cutters dropped a 14-0 decision, but shut OR West out in the second half.

Tre Jackson scored both OR West touchdowns in the first half.

The Kingston peewees finished the day with a 22-0 loss to Lake City in a non league game.

Rockwood at OR East

The Rockwood crickets began the Rams day with a 30-0 loss to OR East.

Mykell Slater scored the first two OR touchdowns. Jemyri Davis and Jaden Gilbert added touchdown runs in the second half.

The Ram hoppers put up a good fight, but fell 28-16 to OR East.

Rockwood trailed 20-0 before Kyle Carr scored on a 60-yard run in the second quarter.

Nick Harris added the two-point conversion.

OR East went up 28-8, but Carr would strike again with a 25-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Skylar Mayton added the two-point conversion.

Kai Ringel scored two TDs for OR East. Jubrice Taylor and Josiah Morgan tacked on a TD each for OR East.

Rockwood got their only win in the cutter contest 6-0 over OR East.

Dylan Williams scored the Ram TD in the second quarter on an eight-yard run.

The Rams then fought off several OR East drives in the second half to hold on for the win. Defensive playmakers for the Rams were Ryan McCain and Joseph Ashburn.

Week 3 Schedule

The big game in the county this Saturday will see Rockwood visiting Harriman. The original schedule had Harriman at Rockwood, but it was changed due to a scheduling conflict at Harriman for the second meeting between the two teams on Oct. 23.

In Oak Ridge, the two Oak Ridge teams will square off with OR West the visiting team against OR East.

Both sets of games begin at 10 a.m.

In last week’s Kingston hopper game against Harriman, Trey Schulz scored a touchdown and it was credited to another player.
