-A A +A

Obed Wild and Scenic River will conduct a ranger-led wildflower walk at 10 a.m. April 13.

Ranger Rick Ryan will lead a moderate out-and-back hike of 5 miles total along the Cumberland Trail section to Alley Ford.

Along the way, accompanied by the park’s botanist, hikers will discuss the wildflowers in bloom, plant communities, and forest ecology during this spectacular time of year to witness nature’s grand showing of flora.

Participants should meet at the Rock Creek Campground parking area. The parking area is in the Rock Creek campground just after crossing the Nemo Bridge on Catoosa Road in Morgan County.

Hikers are advised to wear weather appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes or boots, and bring water and snacks.

Hikers are also welcome to bring well-behaved dogs on a leash.

Participants should expect to spend three hours for this hike. For more information, contact the visitor center at 423-346-6294.
