Troubled tavern up for permit for the third time

It costs $252 to apply for a beer permit in Roane County.

Roma L. Christopher has now spent $756, and still doesn’t have a permit to show for it.

The Roane County Beer Board wouldn’t even hear her application when she applied in June of last year.

She tried again a month later, and the board voted 4-0 to turn her down.

“We’re going to try one more time,” she said. “That’s the only thing I know to do.”

Christopher is scheduled to appear before the board for a third time on Jan. 14.
