TVA seeking public comment on Kingston Fossil Plant coal residuals

TVA is asking for public comment on a proposed Environmental Investigation Plan for coal combustion residuals at its Kingston Fossil Plant.

TVA is developing the plan and seeking public comment following direction from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation regarding coal ash and other coal combustion residuals stored at TVA’s coal plants in Tennessee.

The Kingston Fossil Plant EIP provides details on how TVA plans to investigate and assess the risks to soil, surface water and groundwater from coal combustion residuals stored at Kingston.

The Plan can be viewed online at www.tva.com/KingstonEIP.

The public comment period runs until Sept. 28.

Comments on the plan can be submitted in person during a public meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 30 in Noah’s Event Venue at 1200 Ladd Landing Blvd., Kingston.

Comments are also accepted in writing at Tennessee Commissioner’s Order Comment, Tennessee Valley Authority, 1101 Market St., BR 4A, Chattanooga, TN 37402; via email at TDECorder@tva.gov; and online at www.tva.com/KIFEIPcomments.

Comments must be received by the end of the comment period, Sept. 28.

Any comments received, including names and addresses, will become part of the administrative record and will be available for public inspection.
