Outdoor Kingston will be hosting a concert this month featuring The Riversharks with the opening act by Joey Pierce.
The concert to benefit the Fort Paws Dog Park project will begin at 6 p.m. May 19 in Roane State Community College’s O’Brien Theatre.
Tickets are on sale at area businesses, including Bet’s Pets, Dogs Inn, Enrichment Federal Credit Union of Kingston and Midtown, Everly Blu, Griffin and Davis Law Firm, Rocky Top Markets, SailAway Realty, and Zoomerz Markets.
A six-week Reversing Diabetes seminar will be from 7 to 9 p.m. each Monday May 7-June 11 in the fellowship hall of Roane Community Adventist Church at 336 Patton Lane.
Registered nurses Kathy Kleinsmith and Cathy Petel will teach a new dietary and lifestyle approach. Recipes and samples of diabetes-reversing foods will be provided.
Cost is $30 per person, $45 per couple and includes books, recipes and food samples.
Scholarships will be available.

The Roane County-Owned Back Tax Property Committee will meet Monday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the first floor conference room at the Courthouse in Kingston.
The committee consists of Commissioners Darryl Meadows, Todd Fink, Stanley Moore, Randy Ellis and Ron Woody.
The East Tennessee Preservation Alliance is now accepting nominations for the 2018 East Tennessee Endangered Eight, a listing of the eight most threatened historic sites in the region.
The objective of the list is to inform area communities about the real threat of losing these important sites to development, demolition or lack of maintenance as well as the value of what will be lost if action isn’t taken soon to avoid their destruction.
East Tennessee Human Resource Agency administers the Housing Choice Voucher Program in 16 East Tennessee counties.
Funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, this program provides up to 784 vouchers to help families obtain safe, decent housing at an affordable price.
Homes must be inspected and meet HUD’s Housing Quality Standards.
The rental subsidy is based on each family’s income and is paid directly to the landlord.
An upcoming eight-hour AARP smart driver class in Roane County offers area senior citizens a refresher course on driving and an update on rules of the road.
The class will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14-15 in Mid-East Community Action Agency Roane County Services Center Annex at 2305 N. Gateway Avenue, Suite 10-B, Rockwood.
Course participants will be taught to adjust to age-related physical changes; reduce incidents of violations and accidents; and update driving skills and rules of the road in a stress-free environment.
