Kingston amphitheater may be ready by spring 2019

The Amphitheater at Southwest Point could be ready for use by Memorial Day.

The Kingston City Council was presented with preliminary plans for the 1,000-seat amphitheater at a workshop Monday, Nov. 5.

Representatives of Spectra Tech, the Oak Ridge company managing the project, assured the council the project is moving ahead as planned.

“It’s a straightforward project,” said Mike Shannon of Spectra Tech.

The plan, which is being paid for using a $500,000 state grant, should also be on budget, he said.
