    The Rockwood Lady Tigers started slow Monday evening in their match-up against Scott High, but once Wes Ford's ladies got rolling it was all over, as the Lady Tigers improved to 14-1 on the season with a 6-1 victory over the Lady Highlanders.

    With nothing but pride on the line, the Cherokee Middle Yellow Jackets eased past Midway 24-18 Thursday night to run their record to 4-3. Midway dropped to 2-5 with the loss.

    Midway got off to a good start when Jason Taylor recovered a Cherokee fumble on the second play after the kickoff.

    A furious second half comeback attempt would not be enough for the Midway Green Wave to overcome a 34-3 halftime deficit and the result was a 41-25 homecoming loss to Sunbright.

    The Green Wave trimmed Sunbright’s lead to 34-25 early in the fourth quarter, but two turnovers later in the fourth quarter left Midway with its first loss of the year.

    “We started off sluggish, but we picked up the pace as the game went on,” Harriman Head Coach Travis Tapp said after the game.

    The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission approved the state’s 2014-15 commercial fishing proclamation at its September meeting.

    The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency had made its proposal for 2014-15 during last month’s meeting. TWRA Fisheries Division Chief Bobby Wilson reviewed the proposals during the committee meeting session.
