  • Lady 'Cats drop close games

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats had plenty of chances Tuesday evening in their game at Knoxville Catholic, but Matt Headden’s squad left 10 runners on base in a 3-2 loss against the Lady Irish.

    The Lady ’Cats left one runner on board in each of the first four innings as the two teams battled to a scoreless tie.

    Oliver Springs, however, finally broke through in the fifth inning as the Lady ’Cats used four hits to plate two runs.

    Midway’s baseball team entered play Tuesday with a seven-game winning streak, but the Green Wave couldn’t make it eight-in-a-row as they traveled to Knoxville Central and were knocked off by the Class AAA Bobcats, 4-1.

    The Green Wave had a lot of trouble offensively Tuesday as one hit was all Midway picked up on the evening.

    The Midway Green Wave won its fifth consecutive game with a 7-3 victory over Sweetwater Friday at Midway. 

    As they have done almost all season, Midway used good pitching and solid defense to ease past the Wildcats.

  • Midway pitchers combine for no-...


    Midway pitchers Justin Dutton and Christian Moore combined for a no-hitter Saturday afternoon in leading the Green Wave to an 11-1 victory over Mount Pisgah.

    Dutton pitched the first three innings, allowing one run on four walks while recording three strikeouts. Moore pitched the final three innings, allowing no hits to go along with eight strikeouts.

  • Raiders split with Vol State


    A lot can change from one game to the next in baseball. That was the case Saturday afternoon for the Roane State Raiders in their doubleheader with Volunteer State.

    In game one, Roane State dropped a high-scoring shootout, 14-10, but in game two, the Raiders defense and pitching turned things around and shutout the Pioneers, 6-0.

  • Tigers split with Meigs County...


    The Rockwood Lady Tigers tennis team traveled to Meigs County last week and picked up an impressive 7-2 victory over the Lady Tigers from Decatur.

    Rockwood won five of the six matches on the day in doubles while winning two out of three matches in doubles.
