  • AAA Blue Devils come up just...


    The 2014 season ended Monday evening for the Harriman AAA All-Stars as the Blue Devils dropped an 11-2 decision against Tellico Plains in the Dixie Youth District 8 AAA Tournament in Spring City.

    Tellico Plains proved especially tough for Harriman in the tourney. The Bears knocked off Harriman in the Friday’s open round as well, 10-0.

  • Roane gears up for Dixie Youth...


    The Mike “Brillo” Miller Rockwood Sports Complex will be a busy place starting Thursday at 9 a.m. and lasting until Sunday evening as a total of 32 Dixie Youth baseball teams will be battling it out to see who is the 2014 state champion in the A and AA divisions.

    The Harriman AAA All-Stars have advanced to the Dixie Youth District 8 AAA Tournament that starts today (Friday) in Spring City.

    The Blue Devils earned their spot with a second place finish in the west sub-district tournament that concluded on Tuesday.

  • Season ends for Rockwood AAA All...


    The Rockwood AAA All-Stars would see their season come to an end Monday evening with a loss to Campbell County American in the Dixie Youth AAA west sub-district tournament at Spring City, but the Tigers did win a pair of games on Saturday to finish third overall.

    Heading into play on Thursday, both the Kingston A All-Stars and Harriman A All-Stars were still alive in the Dixie Youth District 8 A Tournament in Harriman.

  • Dixie Youth tourney under way in...


    After a weekend of rain outs, the Dixie Youth District 8 A Tournament began Monday in Harriman and the news was good for the two Roane County teams involved as Harriman and Kingston picked up opening round victories.

    Kingston opened the evening with a 14-5 victory over Oak Ridge and that was followed by Harriman downing Lake City, 16-1.

    An unlucky draw proved disastrous for the Harriman AA All-Stars in the Dixie Youth District 8 AA Tournament in Caryville.

  • Operation Dry Water starts Friday


    The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will be participating in Operation Dry Water, June 27-29. Operation Dry Water is a national weekend of Boating Under the Influence (BUI) education and enforcement directed toward reducing alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities.

    The Harriman AAA All-Stars put together a dominating performance Friday evening as they rolled to a 14-0 victory over Kingston in the opening game of the Dixie Youth AAA sub-district tournament at Spring City.

  • Three from Roane named all-state


    A trio of softball players from Roane County have been named to the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association (TSCA) Class A All-State Team.

    The trio includes two players from Oliver Springs, Courtney Jones and Emily Griffith, along with Midway’s Kallie Sohm.
