    What was supposed to be a blowout turned into a major upset Tuesday night as Colt Narramore’s Kingston Yellow Jackets picked up its first District 4-AA win of the season with a stunning 63-60 victory over district-leading Alcoa.

     Zack Sterner picked up his first win as head coach of the Roane State Raiders Tuesday afternoon with a 6-2 victory over visiting Bryan College JV.

    The Raiders pounded out 11 hits on the day and jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings of play. Roane State added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to claim victory.

     Saturday was a great day for the Cherokee Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets as both won opening round games in the TMSAA East Tennessee AAA Sectional in Sevierville.

    Cherokee’s girls entered the tourney as the No. 3 seed from Area 4 and pulled off a slight upset when they knocked off the No. 2 seed from Area 1, Vance Middle School, 40-37.

    With their season hanging in the balance, the Cherokee Lady Yellow Jackets knocked off Rhea Middle School, 42-40, Friday evening in the consolation game of the Area 4-AAA Tournament at Cherokee.

  • Road trip no fun for Patriots


    The Mount Pisgah Patriots and Lady Patriots traveled to upper East Tennessee Friday night to take on Tri-Cities Christian. The trip was not a good one as both squads suffered defeats.

    The Lady Patriots took the floor first and were knocked off by the Lady Eagles, 56-52.

    The Roane State Raiderettes were living dangerously in the final minutes of their game with the Columbia State Lady Chargers, nearly giving up a 17-point lead before short-circuiting the Lady Chargers comeback aspirations en route to the 65-62 win on Saturday afternoon.

  • Lady Jackets move into third...


    It may have been a bit hairy at times, but the Kingston Lady Jackets escaped Scott High with a 48-41 win over the Lady Highlanders on Friday evening.

    Scott started the game on a 9-0 run before the Lady Jackets battled back on an 8-2 swing to pull within 11-8 at the end of the first period.

    The Rockwood Lady Tigers and Tigers picked up district wins Friday night against visiting Midway. 

    The Tiger sweep helps to clear up the seeding for the District 3-A Tournament that begins next week.
