    Friday’s night’s going to be a busy night for high school football across the state of Tennessee and Roane County will be no different as all five county teams will be in action in five different places.

  • Lady Tigers roll past Carter, 7-0


    The Rockwood Lady Tigers closed out the regular season Monday with an impressive 7-0 victory over Carter.

    The Lady Tigers made quick work of the Lady Hornets with five first half goals. Katy Cisson and Lexie Hill combined for all five Lady Tiger goals in the first half.

  • Dove season begins again Saturday


    The first segment of the 2013 dove season concluded on Sept. 26. The second segment starts on Oct. 12 and will continue for 15 days through Oct. 27.

    The third and final segment of the season will start Dec. 19 and concludes Jan. 15, 2014.

  • Cherokee enjoys strong season

     The Cherokee Middle School softball team started the 2013 season in dominating fashion at the annual Middle School Classic at Athens Regional Park.  The Lady Jackets did not allow a single run in games versus Meigs County, Cleveland and Maryville en route to winning this tournament championship for the first time in school history.

    The seventh week of the Tennessee Valley Athletic Association saw the front runners hold on to their lead, but the Oliver Springs hoppers and cutters had a tussle with Midway. Three of the Bobcat-Green Wave games were decided by a touchdown or less.

    Rockwood High School football coach John Webb has been named the Tennessee Titans Coach of the Week for Week 6.

    Webb was nominated for the award after his team’s 28-21 victory over No. 3 ranked Greenback last Friday night.
