    Tuesday night brought very frigid conditions on the outside and the Maryville Scots made conditions a little more uncomfortable than the Raiders of Roane State wanted on the inside.

  • Raiderettes pick up split


    The Roane State Raiderettes split a pair of conference games over the weekend and now stand at 4-4 on the season.

    Roane State opened play at Jackson State on Friday and dropped a 68-59 decision to the Lady Generals. The Raiderettes bounced back on Saturday with a 69-54 victory at Columbia State.

    The Oliver Springs Middle School Lady Bobcats continued their early season success with a 46-18 victory over visiting Rockwood on Monday.

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats played a pair of games in Sevier County over the weekend, but the results weren’t what Michelle Christopher wanted, as the Lady ’Cats lost both contests.

     The weather outside at Mt. Pisgah Christian Academy’s gymnasium was cold with the sound of ice pinging of the roof, but that didn’t cool off the Patriots and Lady Patriots on the inside, as both teams rode some hot hands to a sweep of the Fairview Falcons.

    The Roane State Raiders were one shot away from picking up a TJCAA road sweep over the weekend, but had to settle for a split after conference-leading Columbia State’s T.J. Dunons buried a desperation three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Chargers a 69-67 victory over the Raiders on Saturday.

    The Rockwood Middle School Tigers ran their season record to 8-0 following a pair of impressive victories.

    The first win came last week at Fort Loudoun, 49-36, and that was followed by a 68-38 victory at Oliver Springs on Monday.

  • Bobcats sweep Sweetwater


    Collin Moss buried six three-pointers and scored a career-high 28 points Monday night in leading Oliver Springs to a 57-41 victory over Sweetwater in the first night of action in the 2013 Oliver Springs Thanksgiving Classic.

    Moss did almost all of his damage in the second half when the game was in doubt. 

    The Bobcats trailed 22-21 at halftime, but Moss buried three three-pointers and scored nine points in the third period, as the Bobcats took a 37-36 lead into the final period of play. 

  • Kingston picks up first win


    After dropping a pair of TSSAA Hall of Fame games, the Kingston Yellow Jackets opened the regular season Friday night with a 61-39 home victory over Loudon.

    Colt Narramore’s started slow Friday and trailed at halftime, but the second half was a different story, as the Jackets outscored the Redskins 38-14 in the final two periods of play.
