A big inning was all the Midway Lady Waves needed to sink the Stone Memorial Lady Panthers Monday night South of the River as they won, 8-1.
A seven-run second inning from Midway proved to be daunting for Stone Memorial and helped cement the outcome in the Lady Waves’ favor.
Remarkably, during all of that offense, Midway only produced two hits in the frame. The remainder of the scores were due to patience from the Lady Waves at the plate and a snafu in the field by the Lady Panthers.
Jamie Cardin singled home a run and Kali Kile knocked a triple into the outfield to score three runs.
Once things had ran its course, Midway was well up, 7-1.
Stone’s only run came in the opening inning when Cadence Cox brought in a runner on a base hit.
Lorelei Langley notched another win in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Waves. She allowed six hits and one run in five innings of work.
Cox was the losing pitcher. She gave up eight runs on nine hits while striking out five and walking six.
Kile came in as relief for Langley, pitching one and two-thirds innings of scoreless softball.
Kile also swung a mean stick at the plate. The Roane State commit tallied four runs batted in on two-of-four hitting.
Cardin finished the day with a three-of-four performance at the plate.
Chloe Jarnigan garnered two hits in the game as well.
